Recent Panic Portraits

Finally, after 1.5 years away, back with my peeps, sitting for each other for the insanely short time of 12 minutes. Charcoal on paper; 8.5×11. Love this practice!

12 minute panic portraits

I’ve been sitting with a cool group of artists in Portland, Maine.  We meet for two hours and take turns posing for the very short time of 12 minutes. It’s alla prima practice and I love it. Results vary!

Pandemic Self-Portraits

Working in isolation during the Coronavirus Pandemic, I’ve discovered a narrative depth to self-portrait work that is inspiring and grounding as things unfold in chaotic ways.

I also had my right / dominant hand in a brace for a while. Working “lefty” added the depth of beginner’s mind to my practice – the slow, deliberate, deep looking and careful mark-making that stops time and establishes flow.

New illustration work

Here’s a preview of the art for a children’s picture book I’m writing and illustrating. The e-Book is  coming soon! Backgrounds and scenes are mostly worked out, on to figures and characters next.

Al

Finished my portrait of Al, the lively proprietor of Frisbee’s Market, in Kittery Point.

Al has graciously given the piece a front row seat at Frisbee’s / Enoteca.

I’ll soon have more work for sale at Enoteca – 88 Pepperell Rd, Kittery Point, ME 03905
